Progressive to the extreme, Afrojack’s upcoming album “Forget the World” is an outpour of emotion one track after the next. The notorious Dutch producer treating every track as if it’s his last. Every note and ever chord is dramatized, instantly gratifying any craving for euphoria.
Despite the album’s title, Afrojack is routinely joined by fellow music icons from across the pop music world. Matthew Koma lends his vocals on “Ten Feet Tall” (listen to the David Guetta remix here), “Illuminate“, and “Keep Our Love Alive”; while Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Spree Wilson, D-Wayne, Jack McManus, Tyler Glenn and Sting add their celebrity throughout.
The track titles and featured artists make little difference to an album clearly focused on capturing a heightened sensory experience, though Sting’s narrative abilities do bring the album a flash of meaning. Every track seems to build from tranquil pianos to jubilant synths, caring less if it’s taken seriously.
“Forget the World” will certainly be one of the biggest releases of the year when it arrives May 19th. Afrojack said he wants to show another side of himself through the album, and even if it’s not the most profound side, it will certainly make an impact.
